Volkswagen Uk did import the Big Beetle, but only 1,800 of them. 
The spec was not exactly the same as the german version - 
it did not have the heated rear window, for one thing - 
but it did have the 5 1/2 x 15 wheels and 175/50 radials,
carpet, corduroy seats, padded vinyl steering wheel, 
wooden gearknob and wood trim on the dash.

After the batch of Big Beetles had been sold, 
the 1303S was not available in the UK except 
to special order with three months delivery.
