Comments :	This is a rare opportunity to buy a beautiful Beetle which was my means of transport to 6th form school many years ago.............I am selling it on behalf of my father who originally bought it for me when I passed my driving test all those years ago(I am now 43!) It really was my pride and joy and a real head-turner wherever you went! I still remember the day my dad met me from school in it!!! My father has kept hold of the vehicle as he couldn't bear to part with it but unfortunately the time has come to move to a smaller house and therefore it has to go.............The car has been kept outside for many years so unfortunately the bodywork has suffered and it does need some TLC; it also hasn't run for quite a while so will need to be towed away or put onto a vehicle for transportation. I think that the car is fine structurally but as mentioned it needs a refurbishement and some time spent on it to bring it back to its former glory. As can be seen from the photographs someone visiting the house was careless with a ladder and snapped a wing mirror and the small quarter light on the drivers side. Although it has been outside you can see how well the vehicle has been built and that it has stood the test of time. The car is a rare 1303S so it has the more powerful 1600 engine which makes it a lot quicker than the 1300. Although the car had a tail-fin spoiler and front spoiler it doesn't look 'over-modified'; in fact it suits the vehicle and as I said before it was a real head-turner. We also have two of the original wheels and tyres, a new set of mud-flaps still in their wrapping, a new unfitted zoom tube for the exhaust and various handbooks. My father has had many Beetles over his lifetime and this must have been his favourite; he bought it from a doctor in London and caught the train to go and collect it personally. I'm sure that any enthusiast who has some spare time would absolutely LOVE this car and would have many more years of fun from this unique vehicle. It will be a sad day when our Beetle is sold so we hope it sells to someone who will lovingly restore it and have as much fun from it as we have. Currently For Sale on EBAY Mileage: 77,635

Comments :	- Was this vehicle imported to the UK in 1997 or was that when it was first registered. If you know, let me know! It is a Moss green model that is being sold as part of an estate. While the paint needs attention it does appear to have retained all it's original features (rear rubber bumper trim in car) and is in unmolested condition (although I cannot say what it is like underneath). If anyone is interested I understand they are looking for £2000 for the car which is located at Wooleys Service Station (01953 850428) in the village of Hingham just outside Norwich. I have enclosed a few pictures which I am afraid are not the best, especially of the inside, however it's one step closer to the 10% mark Thanks to Oliver McAllister for the information.

Comments :	We purchased the car on 28th August 2004 from first owner with only 43,000 miles, full service history, original bill of sale and order confirmation, all old MOT's and the first tax disc. The previous owner had given up driving due to her age and the car needed only a light restoration as it had been wax oiled when new. What was meant to be a 4 month restoration turned into 4 years,due to family commitments. The car had no rust and no welding had ever been necessary, much of the original chrome and body panels were re-used. The high back seats were fitted as a safety measure and new seat covers were fitted along with door cards (still have the original interior which is in superb condition). On its first outing it won Best Club Stand Car at Battlesbridge Car Show which made all the hard work and effort worthwhile.

Comments :	It is with a heavy heart that i am having to sell my 1303s. It have MOT till July and tax till june, it is the big beetle edition, it is in original condition with some surface rust to the body but the underside looks to be in very good condition partly because of the low mileage but also because it has been undersealed most of its life. 3 previous owners, all from the same family. Bought new, sold to neice in 1979 who owned till 2006, bought by daughter in 2006 with intentions to restore for her son to learn to drive. I bought it in Oct 2008 with intentions to restore this summer. Having just found out the wife is pregnant, priorities change and i need a sensible car. I have put 4,000 miles on it, starts first time, every time in the rain or snow. Have had no mechanical problems, body work seems very stiff and should last quite a long time untouched but is prime for a restore. The heaters work and warm the car up really well. Volkszone Thread

Comments :	VW Super Beetle was renovated a few years prior to my purchase in 2004, including a new engine. The car had new tyres in 2004 and they still retain 70% of the tread. The car was originally metallic blue but had been repainted white. The car starts, drives, and sounds superb. The brakes (front) are binding slightly and the body work is good. The car has mainly been used as part of an activities programme to stimulate EMI residents. I think very liitle work would be needed for the MOT (Brakes being the main item). The car fires first time and drives generally well. I like to think that i have finally got beetle mania out of my system. I would like to say there isn't a reserve price but I am expecting around £500 for the car. The car also benefits of very low classic car insurance £125.00 comp per year based on 2000 miles per year. I had all the MOTs from 1992. At present I have 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. I also have the original sale invoice and warranty from beetlemania to the previous owner. Majority of the maintenance had been done by beetlemania of London until 2003. Carburetor (Solex) was replaced on 19/05/2002 including some of the steel piping. Insurance is also very reasonable. We have had the car in the family for 10 years now and it’s always been totally reliable and is great fun to drive. It certainly turns heads and raises comments wherever you seem to go. There have only been 3 owners since new! All ladies too. The car comes with original log books and FULL SERVICE HISTORY!! The beetle still has the original engine - 65k on the clock - genuine miles. The car drives very well with a nice solid feel to it, unlike my first beetle! The car comes with a box of new and used spare odds and ends including paint that I had matched to the colour. The interior is well presented. There is a new CD player with USB for your mp3s and new speakers in the rear. The carpets are in great condition and has been kept clean by constant use of rubber mats. The heater to the floor is very good, And I have installed an extra heater for the screen which is powered by the lighter socket. It means that the screen clears up without you having to open the window in the cold weather! The engine always starts immediately hot, cold or sub zero. It doesn’t smoke, drip oil, or make odd noises. It has a standard exhaust with new tail pipes. All gears select perfectly. There is very little cosmetic rust to be seen, 2 wings and the bonnet have recently been resprayed. All of the window rubbers have been replaced. The running boards are in excellent condition and there are lots of shiny aluminum detailing making the car look quite special. I have just fitted 2 new bumpers to the car which makes it look shiny new.

Comments :	HISTORY We have records of this car (service receipts and equipment fitted) going back to 1988. My daughter purchased her in 1993. As it turned out she was a bad buy. From lack of Beetle experience and naivity we didn’t look closely enough at the important places. After struggling with her for a year it became obvious that she was going to be a constant struggle to keep safely on the road and in the long run she was heading for the knacker’s yard. We chose the alternative and took her off the road for three years during which we spent several thousand pounds and many hundreds of hours on her to bring her up to a good looking, safe and reliable vehicle. CONDITION You can see Alice’s current top condition from the first four photographs. She was re-sprayed after our renovation 10 years ago; this top coat is getting a bit tired now and is showing some blistering in places, a few thinness spots and the usual chips. Some corrosion has appeared along the edge seams, at the bottom corners of the doors and at a few other spots; all of this has been treated and over-painted. This said you can see that she still polishes up very well and continues to look generally good. In the longer term a re-spray would, with little preparation, easily bring her back to tip-top condition. What is very special about Alice though is what lies beneath the surface. In the renovation she was stripped out thoroughly, de-rusted, repaired and then given a protective Hammerite coating inside and out. She was partly rewired and her engine stripped down and rebuilt. All areas like suspension, steering and brakes were dismantled and rebuilt with new components where necessary. All seals, window rubbers, door rubbers and gaskets were replaced. The interior was re-carpeted and the original seating was good enough to be kept with minor repairs. Comments :	I've owned this neat little car since 1999, but now I must let it go. The ownership history is as follows: - Date of purchase new was 13 Nov 1973. Then she was sold to a chap called John Roberts on 23 July 1976. John ran this car until 11 June 1999 which is when I bought her for my wife to use. She is more of a bug-head than I am. The car was a moss green colour and the paint was somewhat faded. She also needed a little care and attention, but that was superficial. In 2004 I sent her in for a makeover and she came back the colour, which is Mercedes Green. I liked it and that is the colour she has remained. We also christened her “Mercedes” which we all know is a name given to a girl child. That is how she has been treated all these years, with love and attention. She has a great presence on the road and the engine is the original as listed in the log book. I have previously been asked if the mileage is original, and can honestly say that my wife only used the car for short runs, to the shop and back and once in a while we took her to Scotland. She starts first time every time and is ready to roll without having to wait for that warm-up malarkey. I have once again examined her all over and report the following information. The engine and gearbox are mechanically perfect in every respect, no end float nor irregular noises. Instant start and instant response. I've taken her over 85mph on the East Lancs. and she runs and handles well. No creaks or groans. No binding of the brakes and handles well overall. Engine could do with a little makeup if desired, by that I mean cosmetically. Absolutely no mechanical work needed. Body wise, she was refurbished in January 2004 at a cost of £1175.00 by a professional body shop. The invoice is available for examination subject to purchase. On examining the bodywork today I can report that there is no significant work to be done, although I would advocate that the under body be re-rubberised. It helps to deaden the road noise and protects as well. There is some cosmetic work to be done obviously, but that is all. No welding or bodywork required. Comments :	Currently For Sale on EBAY My wife and I bought this car shortly after our honeymoon in September 2007 and we have really enjoyed having her. Talk about a great buy, she is so solid and has NEVER let us down. We stumbled accross her whilst away camping and fell in love with her straight away. She started her life as a courtesy car at a Volkswagen dealership back in the 1970's. In later years she was bought by a lovely family who had her for the remainder until we came along. The car needed alot of work when they bought her and the son being a qualified engineer spent a number of years rebuilding her: all new suspension, quick shift gear box, clutch, body panels, seals, lights, rebuilt engine, etc. I mean she was overhauled. The car had sat for15 years in a garage being started up occassionally to keep the engine ticking over and the reason it was sold was because it was not being used. They even ran it through a new MOT in September 2007 at the very own Volkswagen dealership she started her life. They did a structural and mechanical survey and the only thing needed doing was the replacement of 2 tyres as they had buldges from where it sat still for all those years. She is 98% rust free, with slight bobbling on the rear wheel arch (no drama) and the upholstery is ripped as you can see but because it is original we decided not to change it.

Comments :	I have recently found your site featuring 'big' beetles and wondering if you would be interested to hear about mine, which I eventually had to scrap. I have been interested in beetles since I was a child, and when I was fourteen my father deceided to buy an old beetle which needed work. It was a silver '74 1303s with black stripes, GT wheels, blue cord interior and wood effect dashboard which we found sitting in a barn in Norfolk. The car was taken home on a trailer and spent the next year sitting in our garage until my dad needed the money and he sold it to our nearest Beetle garage. I was heartbroken. Several years later, aged 19, I was driving my first car (an '85 polo) back from work when I saw it coming the other way. After a quick u-turn I managed to find it again in Sainsburys car park. I waited for about 45 minutes while the owner did his shopping and gave him my number and said if he ever wanted to sell it to give me a call. A few months I received a call from the owner who said he wanted to sell it as the MOT was running out. I bought it straight away and took it home only for it fail the MOT spectacularly, mostly on body corrosion. I spent the next year trying to find a garage who was willing to fix it but was told numerous times that it was too far gone. My last chance was my dad's mechanic who said if I bought him a new welder he would sort out the bodywork. He made a start but also had to admit defeat. I deceided the best thing to do was buy a better car and transfer the parts, so in 2001 I bought an '73 1303 which was rough but serviceable. I scrapped the 'big' beetle and used as many of the parts I could, including the bonnet, spare wheel, wing mirrors, bumpers, carpet, silver edged horn push and wood effect dash. Unfortunately the beetle I had bought had US highback seats which were safer and smarter than the faded blue seats so they were scrapped with the car as I had nowhere to store them. Purchased from Contim Motors (Hillingdon), Hayes, Middlesex on the 25/6/74. The earliest paperwork I have for it is from November 1982 from Norwich Volkswagen dealership Robinsons.
