Comments :	It is with a heavy heart that i am having to sell my 1303s. It have MOT till July and tax till june, it is the big beetle edition, it is in original condition with some surface rust to the body but the underside looks to be in very good condition partly because of the low mileage but also because it has been undersealed most of its life. 3 previous owners, all from the same family. Bought new, sold to neice in 1979 who owned till 2006, bought by daughter in 2006 with intentions to restore for her son to learn to drive. I bought it in Oct 2008 with intentions to restore this summer. Having just found out the wife is pregnant, priorities change and i need a sensible car. I have put 4,000 miles on it, starts first time, every time in the rain or snow. Have had no mechanical problems, body work seems very stiff and should last quite a long time untouched but is prime for a restore. The heaters work and warm the car up really well. Volkszone Thread

Comments :	VW Super Beetle was renovated a few years prior to my purchase in 2004, including a new engine. The car had new tyres in 2004 and they still retain 70% of the tread. The car was originally metallic blue but had been repainted white. The car starts, drives, and sounds superb. The brakes (front) are binding slightly and the body work is good. The car has mainly been used as part of an activities programme to stimulate EMI residents. I think very liitle work would be needed for the MOT (Brakes being the main item). The car fires first time and drives generally well. I like to think that i have finally got beetle mania out of my system. I would like to say there isn't a reserve price but I am expecting around £500 for the car. The car also benefits of very low classic car insurance £125.00 comp per year based on 2000 miles per year. I had all the MOTs from 1992. At present I have 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. I also have the original sale invoice and warranty from beetlemania to the previous owner. Majority of the maintenance had been done by beetlemania of London until 2003. Carburetor (Solex) was replaced on 19/05/2002 including some of the steel piping. Comments :	HISTORY We have records of this car (service receipts and equipment fitted) going back to 1988. My daughter purchased her in 1993. As it turned out she was a bad buy. From lack of Beetle experience and naivity we didn’t look closely enough at the important places. After struggling with her for a year it became obvious that she was going to be a constant struggle to keep safely on the road and in the long run she was heading for the knacker’s yard. We chose the alternative and took her off the road for three years during which we spent several thousand pounds and many hundreds of hours on her to bring her up to a good looking, safe and reliable vehicle. My daughter then drove her regularly until 2004. Since then she has been on the road only intermittently as my daughter trained to be a driving instructor and needed a more modern car. Alice has been mostly kept in my garage during this last four years and as I really would like my garage back and we would like someone else to enjoy Alice we have decided to sell her. CONDITION You can see Alice’s current top condition from the first four photographs. She was re-sprayed after our renovation 10 years ago; this top coat is getting a bit tired now and is showing some blistering in places, a few thinness spots and the usual chips. Some corrosion has appeared along the edge seams, at the bottom corners of the doors and at a few other spots; all of this has been treated and over-painted. This said you can see that she still polishes up very well and continues to look generally good. In the longer term a re-spray would, with little preparation, easily bring her back to tip-top condition. What is very special about Alice though is what lies beneath the surface. In the renovation she was stripped out thoroughly, de-rusted, repaired and then given a protective Hammerite coating inside and out. She was partly rewired and her engine stripped down and rebuilt. All areas like suspension, steering and brakes were dismantled and rebuilt with new components where necessary. All seals, window rubbers, door rubbers and gaskets were replaced. The interior was re-carpeted and the original seating was good enough to be kept with minor repairs. Photos five to ten show examples of some of this and the interior [No 7 is from the renovation period]. Comments :	Extensive restoration was done by the previous owner, so car is in great condition, inside and out, with only a couple of slight cosmetic blemishes on the paintwork, but nothing really noticeable until right up close. All the interior was restored (new carpets/upholstery) and still retains all of the original features and charm. Since I've owned it, I've had the engine completely replaced with a new Remtec 1600cc (Aug 2006), a new clutch, new heat exchange, replaced the carburator, replaced the fuel lines, had the electrics rewired. Comments :	http://www.aircooledunlimited.co.uk History Our ‘Big Beetle’ was produced on 14th November 1973. And was then sold by Bridge Motor Works (Leicester) Ltd. Abbey Lane, Leicester (the main VW Dealers in Leics. at that time) to Mr Roger Whiteman on February 8th 1974. After almost 2 years Roger (who was emigrating) sold the car to his father. Mr Tom Whiteman kept the car until 6th April 1977, when he part-exchanged it for a VW Golf at Johnson’s Garages (Hinckley) Ltd. In June 1977 Mrs. Kathleen Derbyshire, of Groby, Leics. purchased it. She had the car for just over 6 years, when she passed away her husband, Mr. John Derbyshire, then owned the car for a further 5 years, when he too passed away. The car then went to his nephew, Mr. Leslie Cooper, of South Wigston, Leics. He kept the car until December 1992, when he sold it to Paul Mann as a spares or repair, MOT failure. Paul was unfortunately made redundant and could not afford to fix the car; he then sold it to us on 6th July 1993. At some time the car has been fitted with a sun-roof. We restored the car & in 1995 had it re-sprayed in the original colour. It has been used as a daily driver since 1998 & is not garaged. We are no longer using the original engine but still has 1600 TP. We are now at the point where another re-spray needs doing! Comments :	The car is in excellent condition. I have had it for over 4 years and has been an incredibly reliable car. Before me drastic work was carried out on it, stripped down to the chasis and pretty much re built. Since I have had it, it has only needed routine maintenance for MOTs and a paint job. With the car I can provide an extensive history of the car, including photos of its re build, reciepts of what has been done to the car over the years, registration documents, service history (MOT expires sept 09) and insurance details. The car otherwise known as 'scotty' is in excellent condition for a its age. It was bought for me to learn to drive in, planned to be kept for about a year, it has exceeded our expectations and I have now had it for 4 years and a few months. It is my first car and I would love to pass it onto someone like myself or someone who can maintain its current condition and keep him running regularly.
